Homemade Pizza Dough

Homemade pizza dough is easy to make with a few simple ingredients and creates a soft, chewy crust that’s perfect for your favorite pizza toppings.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 package active dry yeast
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 1 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, combine 3/4 cup warm water and 1 tsp sugar. Sprinkle 1 package active dry yeast over the top and let it sit for 5–10 minutes, or until foamy.

  • Add 2 cups all-purpose flour and 1 tsp sea salt to the yeast mixture. Drizzle in 1 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil. Stir with a wooden spoon or mix with your hands until a shaggy dough forms.

  • Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for about 8–10 minutes, or until smooth and elastic. If the dough is too sticky, add a little flour as needed.
  • Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl and cover with a clean towel or plastic wrap. Let it rise in a warm place for about 1 to 1½ hours, or until doubled in size.
  • Punch down the dough and turn it out onto a floured surface. Shape it into a round or rectangle, depending on your pan or preference. Top with your favorite sauce and toppings.
